 Imagine
Nation Today! helping you create a better
world

Hello!
No, it's not your
imagination (no pun intended!), the January newsletter
is actually arriving in February. My computer had to
make several visits across the country for repairs
and that just skewed my whole life. It's amazing how
completely techno-dependent I am!
As I'm actually
working without my computer at the moment, you'll find
this newsletter a little lighter than normal -- but
hopefully just as useful as ever. I know things are
hard, finances are frustrating, and many of us are being
challenged daily by the economy. But hang in. Putting
things into perspective can help you think more
clearly and enable you to make wiser, more empowered
choices. I hope the article below helps you to do just
that.
As you may be
aware, our Imagine
Nation website has a new look, feel free to check it
out. It's more user-friendly with easier access to
information, products, and services. There are
upcoming events at Fresh Start, East/West Exchange, and
and Mesa Community College. Or visit the Nancy
Nordstrom site to view a video excerpt from
a workshop or sneak a peek into "Ah, the Tick!" or
the quickstep guide. I
apologize for the delay in getting this issue out to you
but I do hope it finds you in a place where
possibilities are recognized. I'm here for you to help
you achieve the outcomes you desire. Until then...
remember to keep the dream
alive. |

Right now, everything we read,
hear, and talk about tends to come from a place of
negativity. Small wonder, considering. However, it
isn't serving you well. January is about change,
bringing in the new, letting go of the old, improving,
polishing, looking forward. To make that change
successfully, whatever that needed change is, we need to
move from that dour pit, to a place where we can see the
possibilities that surround us more clearly. You need to
convert that old, non-productive approach to a new, more
forward-thinking attitude. Here's a few tips on how
to do so successfully:
Time does not
standstill
While you consider the troublesome situation you
find yourself in, something is happening: time is
passing. Every minute of every day you are
choosing to allow your situation to remain unchanged, to
worsen, or to improve. You are making a choice and
your situation is a reflection of that choice. The
clock keeps ticking regardless of that choice. Which
means: it's only temporary. Time will take its toll
and the situation will change, eventually, whether or
not you step up and do your part. Take
control. You have choices. There are many possibilities.
Choice and possibility give you opportunity which
gives you control to make decisions that are practical
rather than emotional, realistic rather than random. The
clock keeps ticking, use your time
wisely, take advantage of the opportunities you
have, seek them out so that you can move toward the
outcomes you truly desire. Time can take advantage of
you, or you can take advantage of time!
See Clearly
Now
Perception is reality: what you choose to see
is what you get. It is easy to be blinded by the
dire predictions of others; we are inundated with bleak
outlooks from a variety of sources. But we choose to
accept these projections of fear, insecurity, and
failure. Worse, we choose to project them onto our own
reality. This is not to say that your situation isn't
dire, it may well be. You may be experiencing loss
or uncertainty. It's in choosing to stay in the
darkness, to hide from possibility that ensures we have
no other option than to create and maintain a world of
hopelessness. It's time to see clearly.
Your situation is what it is. It may be bleak and dire,
and it will stay that way if you choose to let it.
Or you can realize that somewhere, within all the mess,
there are possibilities that will enable you to turn it
around. You must want to turn it around, and you must
work at turning it around. But you can, you will, if you
simply change the way you are looking at it, look at it
clearly for what it is, and then choose to make the
changes that are required.
It's Not As Easy As
It Sounds
The fact is that choosing a more proactive
attitude, choosing a more productive perception, making
the choice in itself, is not as easy as it sounds. It
will take work and it will take determination. And at
various points you will decide it's a waste of your
time. And at that time you will need to take a deep
breath, release it slowly and acknowledge that you can
do this. You may not want to, you may wish you didn't
have to, but you can do this. You've heard
me say this before: "Impossible is defined by the
limitation of your imagination." As well as: "Can't
isn't a measure of ability, it's a measure of desire."
You can find a solution, if you are open to doing so.
And the "can't" can't stop you if you have the desire to
get it done. So human up! We falter and fall and
sometimes get weighed down by it all. It is human to
wallow in the unfairness. But just as human to pick
ourselves up, little by little. It's just a matter of
time, it's just a matter of attitude, and it's just a
matter of choice. You can do this, you will get through
this, and you will do more than just survive it. What
better time than now to start doing
it? | |
